Alan Ingham's (1932-2002) interests always included both drawing and this blended into the background of his busy life. At age thirteen he joined the Royal Navy where he worked as a surveyor.
In his thirties, he left the Navy and taught in the field of gas and oil extraction and painting became a bigger part of his life. By the end of the 1970s his watercolours were widely being reproduced on calendars and greeting cards, so his art became even more popular following this nationwide exposure. In 1984 he became a full time artist and he received numerous awards and his limited edition prints are still very sought after.
